Today, I saw a painting that fascinated me. It was one with a tall tree surrounded by sand, plenty of sand. The sand seemed so coarse and I couldn’t but wonder what a tree was doing in the midst of an obviously growth impaired environment. Then, I saw the body of water, clear as day and stretched so wide but Still, the tree was quite a distance from the water.
I was quickly reminded of how we are so much like that tree sometimes. We often find ourselves in the midst of ugliness, pain, troubles, discomfort etc but for some reason, we stand tall and fine.
The water that surrounded that tree was not near enough to aid it’s growth(at least that’s what I thought) but perhaps, there was another way the tree was getting the water it needed. There must have been another way.
As Christians, we are often so overwhelmed by the plenty sands around us. They look like they will consume us or dry us out and in the midst of this, we lose sight of the water sitting right there.
We forget how near God is, how His presence surrounds us, how His Peace calms us and how is Joy fills us.
Did I mention how green the leaves of the tree were? The Bible says that the righteous shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
Psalm 1:3 AMP.
Let me go further to state that the Bible never said the trees would not be surrounded by thorns or coarse sand but as long as it is near the water, then it will flourish.
Somehow that tree got all it needed even in the midst of an unlikely situation. The water got to it one way or another.
I know this is how God cares for us; nearly and dearly and one way or another, He always always comes through.
